art

this little corner of london often has some art stuck on it. it’s proper stuff, not someone messing about.
but it always looks like a random load of rubbish. so the council have to stick signs on it saying “this is art not rubbish, please don’t throw it away” (or words to that effect)

help the aged

pete sent me this sign. he’s done very well as it’s a great sign. it would have been even better if they had spelt weekdays as ‘weak days’ to celebrate old people’s frailty.

plant disaster

plant pot smashed. plants thrown over the pavement (there was another one down the gutter). what IS going on in London these days ?

snogging snails

look at these two snails ‘making out’. i suspect they went for a romantic walk alongside the flowers and before you know it …
just to reasure you, i have got standards. if they’d taken their shells off i wouldn’t have taken their photo.

malady

i’m ill today. achy, massive headache, hurty neck, voice like barry white. so i’m taking a rare sick day and spending it in bed. it’s been brewing for a week so hopefully this is the climax of the movement. apologies for the lack of updates today.
UPDATE: thanks to my old friend coproxamol i’m feeling a little better and can at least think again. back to work tomorrow …

mysterious train journey

i got a late train home this evening. i was hot and worn out from the walk from westminster so for the first time ever i bought a beer from the off license in Paddington to drink on the train like a common alcoholic. i also bought a nice bottle of cool water
however, when i got on the train and took a swig of the water it was in fact indian tonic water and disgusting.
the two people sitting next to me were having an interesting chat about belly button piercing in Leeds so i listened in to them for a bit. but then i noticed that the lady on my left had been talking for quite a while too, but there wasn’t anyone sitting next to her.
i realised that she was in fact reading her newspaper out loud (just the first paragraphs of each story). at the end of each story she’d say something like “well, that’s interesting” or “mmm. this is much better”. She was very smartly dressed and middle aged and very well spoken.
she got off in maidenhead. i took this photo after she had gone. it was very dark so i used my negative mode (instead of flashing). it suited the mood too.

yellow sun

i went to a meeting this evening and the best thing was coming out of an adjacent building at 8pm to see big ben all lit up by a nice yellow evening sun.

BBQ on an island

there’s nothing better than a nice barbeque in this barmy british weather. britain (unlike any man) is an island. so it’s ideal to have your BBQ on an island.
these people chose a traffic island in trafalgar square for their barbeque. i would have spent a bit longer trying to get a nice angle so you could have seen the square behind them, but i was on my way for a meeting with some MPs and probably would have been late.

a photo !

i found a photo for davescollections today. it was a real achievement as it was a face down job (so it looked like any old scrap of paper). hoorah.
i’ll put it on the site tomorrow evening.

gloves

the yellow gloves had gone and in their place were these two red ones. VERY mysterious

the bird man

this man is selling peacock feathers in tottenham court road. he doesn’t speak much but did allow me to take his photo for the website for 50p.
moments before i’d seen a business man wearing a black cloak and an eye patch looking very bizarre. the two people passed within a few centimetres of each other and i half expected them to explode and/or suddenly disappear.
but they didn’t. which is lucky. otherwise i wouldn’t have got this picture for you.
