on my ireland day tour thing i visited the bushmills whiskey distillery.  here’s a hot toddie i had at the hotel later that evening.

here’s my whiskey tasting whiskey.  12 year single malt (i think).  very nice whatever it was.  i learnt you need to have the first sip for your throat, the second sip for your mouth, then you can start enjoying the drink.  add a bit of water too.

finally, i couldn’t resist taking a photo of this no photos sign.

are you smarter than a 10 year old ?

remember jane, esther and me went to see Are You Smarter Than A 10 Year Old ?  Well, the episodes we were on are now showing.  we were on the end part of last Sunday’s one and should be on all of this coming week’s episode and the one after.  You can play online here

jane is very clear (especially if you’ve got HD apparently).  and i only turn up if the contestants move out the way !

(by the way, i edited the picture above so you can see me – it doesn’t appear like this in the real show.  although that would make a nice ‘red button’ feature).

finally, some of you will know i work for the company that shows this program (clue on the screen).  I’ve got some half price staff offers for friends and family if you haven’t already got our method of watching TV (and another upgrade offer for someone who has).  if you are interested let me know asap.  deadline is 16th Nov so be quick !

the giant’s causeway

as you know, i went to belfast for a business meeting last week.  i took a day’s holiday when i was there to go on a bus tour of the north east coast.  it was excellent.  i met some really nice people and saw some fantastic sights

the highlight of the tour was the Giant’s Causeway.  we didn’t get there until 4pm though unfortunately and it was getting dark.  so we had a whistle stop tour.  next time i’ll take more time getting photos.

here’s someone on the stones.  the sea was amazing due to the storms (which also meant the flight home was a bit wobbly)

here’s a classic picture of the hexagonal stones and strangeness on the horizon in the distance

this is the giant’s boot (i think)

071107_350d_img_7097.jpg

there was lots of scummy foam stuff. i converted this one to black and white to make it look nicer.

very complicated diagram of where to walk.  the path down looks quite steep on the sign.

this is the giant’s organ.

071107_350d_img_7108.jpg

if i’d thought about it i would have got someone to stand in front of it to give you some scale.  but i didn’t cuz it was dark and we were running out of time.

apparently C S Lewis was inspired by the countryside of northern ireland and it may have influenced his narnia stories.
