the birds at auckland zoo
the birds at auckland zoo wre very good at sitting next to their sign posts so you could see what they were.
although sometimes you did need to look closely to see where they were
and if you stood still long enough they would fly at you
and sit on your head
strange bird in hyde park
what sort of bird is this that was wobbling round hyde park yesterday ? let me know i you can brave the commenting system. or comment on the flickr picture here
update: turns out it’s a Northern Lapwing or peewit. as you were everybody

pretty (but dead) bird
this bird had dropped out of a tree and was lying on the ground quite stiff. but still looking very beautiful. i resisted the urge to wear it as a brooch and just took a photo instead.
queuing for their treats
i’m reading animal farm with esther at the moment. these swans have learnt to queue up for their treats

there are birds up the tate modern chimley
sometimes they have people with telescopes so you can see them proper.

of course there were animals at the show too
and i loved how they covered a bull’s head with rosettes.
because you don’t want to upset a bull by sticking things all over its face do you ? note the slobber
no one likes being called heavy.
ducks with a nice long necks. i think they could do with some arms stuck on the sides of their bodies
this was a bit unfortunate. it was a cage with something hidden under some sawdust. no one likes a loser
there were some more serious birds outside
this little barn owl brought his barn owl caravan
and he was keeping an eye on me
here is a sign i can agree with.
the bird in our garden
this bird of prey popped in to our garden when we were having tea last night. it then dived in to our neighbour’s garden.
we have a lot of nature round our way. in the last few days, from our garden you’ve been able to see a passing hedgehog, half a dozen red kites and now a hawk (?).
there was a moth on the lawn the other day too.
not a red heron
well done to mr exile who scores a direct hit. it’s a grey heron in hyde park.
