here’s the view from the penthouse at the Dorchester on Park Lane.

i was there for a work eating meeting. it might have been the poshest work lunch i’ve been to. here was the food i sneakily photographed (i had to be a bit stealthy as we were on one table and everyone was involved in the same conversation.

what tony does next

i walked past tony blair’s house yesterday. cherie was in but tony wasn’t (according to the papparatzi types i asked outside). he’ll be in all the news today (wednesday) as he gives up his old day job. once again, funkypancake brings you the news first !

bollar and a mattress

here’s a bollard on a mattress outside in the rain. i’m pointed at it with a finger of fudge.

holiday amusements

on the first morning of our holiday in devon i bought a play station 1 with a few games for five pounds. it proved to be good entertainment in the evenings, and the children quickly organised themselves to turn taking.

the 3d glasses experiment

they were giving away free 3d glasses with one of the freebie london papers last night. for once they were actually quite comfortable so i decided to wear them my entire journey. it made reading the paper more fun and had the added advantage of discouraging anyone from sitting next to me.
i took this photo to show the power of 3d glasses in a packed commuter train.
lesson learnt 1 – always look like a slightly unhinged nutter if you want some space.

lesson learnt 2 – after wearing 3d glasses for half an hour, your eyes compensate so when you take them off your eyes still see different colours for a while. i tested this by looking at green grass with one eye then the other. probably making me look as mad as when i was wearing the glasses.
experiment over. next.

tombola

i love fetes. and i love tombolas the best. when you enter you kind of want to win,but also don’t want to as the history of the bottles is often questionable. we’ve suspected some professional tombola wine bottles have been circulating for years – once one they are donated to the next tombola and so on.

this is a fairly classic selection with all the usuals – ketchup, cola, cheap pop, strange wines etc.

the order of the biscuit part 2

i stood in for a colleague the other week and went to the meeting where i observed the biscuit popularity last time.

slightly different result this time. i thought the chocolate chippy ones and the raisiny ones would be each more popular. but in the end the custard creams proved to be a favourite.

i also observed during the meeting that the majority of the biscuits were eaten by a hardcore of just 4 biscuit eaters (where about 15 people were present).
things don’t get much more exciting than this in the world of telecoms regulation …

the final kezia and daddy day

after church kezia and i played on our computers (me editing/uploading this, her playing cbeebies). when the rain stopped we went to the local village show and kezia ate candyfloss

and got her best shoes all muddy (sorry jane – my fault) ooops

hassock of the week

good news – i found a rich seam of hassocks last week which i quickly photographed and stockpiled, so i’ve got enough for the next year and a half. hallelujah !

kezia / daddy fun day

jane is off camping with esther this weekend, so kezia and i are having a daddy/kezzy day. it’s mostly involved watching lots of glastonbury on the telly, but today we went bowling, fast fooding, village feting, play stationing and more telly glastonburying.

we both started off our second game by getting strikes which wasn’t bad – but it all went down from there.
