loch ewe

here is the last of our scottish holiday pictures (i think).  it’s loch ewe.

highland fling

090824_450d_img_7943.jpg

there’s little in life more satisfying than throwing stones in to still water

fish sighting envy

090823_450d_img_7821.jpg

the world of fish sighting is obviously quite competitive.

Rothesay victorian toilets

090821_850_img_4912.jpg

I don’t think I even got half way through our scottish holiday before being distracted by real life.  So i’ll have a few days of scottish things, and slot in real life around it.

090821_850_img_4916.jpg

I am usually very careful about taking pictures in toilets, but everyone was doing it here.  In a very tasteful way of course.

090821_850_img_4914.jpg

I was even allowed to show the girls round the men’s room.

090821_850_img_4913.jpg

we then went and stared at a parked up war ship

pucks glen (the second time)

090820_450d_img_7557.jpg

we loved pucks glen so much we climbed up it a second time with jane’s aunt and uncle who live (vaguely) near by.

090820_450d_img_7601.jpg

we had a great time admiring the gushing waters and catching up on life stories

090820_450d_img_7605.jpg

090820_450d_img_7590.jpg 090820_450d_img_7587.jpg

090820_450d_img_7583.jpg 090820_450d_img_7560.jpg

like all good climbs in scotland, we were rewarded with a fantastic view for our efforts.

090820_450d_img_7617.jpg

090820_450d_img_7607.jpg

and then we had a gradual descent to the tea shop in the local botanical gardens

090820_450d_img_7613.jpg

we took the low road back which was a bit flooded

puck’s glen

090817_450d_img_7479.jpg

in our first week in Scotland we stayed at the bottom of Puck’s Glen in
a lodge.  it’s owned by a friend of ours who does holiday lettings.

if you are looking for somewhere easily accessible but feels completely
remote from the rest of the world with stunning scenery, and beautiful
walks, then this is the place for you !

090817_450d_img_7510.jpg

090817_450d_img_7498.jpg

here is a strange rock which looked like a frog.  who said the countryside was boring !

inverary jail

090817_450d_img_7404.jpg

090817_450d_img_7399.jpg

inverary jail is worth a look if you are in those parts.  just watch out you don’t get locked in !

scotland day 1 – loch eck

090817_450d_img_7363.jpg

so, let’s start on the holiday snaps shall we ?  probably got a few weeks of these, so sorry about that.  it’s not all tedious mountains.

090817_450d_img_7368.jpg

but the mountains were rather nice

090817_450d_img_7367.jpg

these are of loch eck which was near our holiday lodge

090817_450d_img_7365.jpg

initially the water was lovely and still with gentle mist, but it quickly descended in to a rain fest which stuck around for the next, er, 14 days of so

090817_450d_img_7355.jpg

but rain is good as it makes giant puddles which those scotish folk called lochs

090817_450d_img_7361.jpg

and it also made for some moody photos

090817_450d_img_7354.jpg

which is always good fun

a thoroughly scottish evening

080202_850_img_6768.jpg

we went to a neighbour’s birthday party last night.  it doubled up as a burns night celebration as they are scottish.  it was most excellent and we had a brilliant night.

the box above contains bagpipes, and everything you need to be scottish.  seen below is a bottle of irn bru.  also very scottish.
