festival heads

there’s a music fair going on at the moment in ghent with all sorts of side entertainments. one group of entertainments had obviously finished work and had gone in to a bar leaving their instruments and heads in the street.

rain

yesterday it rained which appeared to be no surprise to the locals, but confused a few tourists. the site-seeing boats seemed well prepared and almost appeared to turn in to umbrella sail boats:

the gala dinner

it was the conference finale last night. much food, good conversation and a live band (which seemed to be playing their songs just too slow to dance to – so i didn’t for once !).

more belgian dog signs (best ever ?)

there’s been some great dog signs in Ghent. they’ve been a joy to find.
here’s a dog straining following his success:

here’s a dog weeing. it’s in the same cartoon style. Cartoons are a big Belgian thing and something they are rightly proud of:

but look at this – it’s all the Ghent dog signs on the same board:

the last part

this morning (saturday) was the last formal part of the conference. it was a different venue so the walk from the hotel was only 10 minutes rather than the usual 30 minutes.
then it was free time this afternoon before the gala dinner this evening. i’ve even bought a new belgian shirt for the occasion.
