moving country

Popular daytime TV program This Morning is filmed on the South Bank. I walked by as they were setting up for the weather forecast. it was obviously going to be quite elaborate involving an inflatable thing and a big map of britain

quite why you need an inflatable for the weather i don’t know

last week they had a tent up. what a shame i have to go to work rather than sit at home watching people on the telly. (of course i could have skipped my meeting and sat and watched it in real life, but i didn’t)

  1. do you remember that guy who used to do the news (i think it was bbc4) on a raft? he was like, in a swimming pool, or something … and england and ireland, etc, were floating … and he was on a raft and would paddle from part to part explaining the weather in each area? early 90’s? is he still around. i *loved* him when i was in london.

  2. you sound slightly bonkers sixfeet 😉
but it’s actually the same program. i think he was called Fred. It was when they used to broadcast the program live from Liverpool (or Manchester?) and i think his floating weather map was in the docks.
it would have had to have been very strong wind to carry him off to ireland.
no idea if he’s still the weatherman.

  3. … and i think he used to jump from england to ireland rather than paddle. so it probably wouldn’t have had to be that windy after all.
