as safe as horses

i see these horses regularly (about every 12 months). The first picture shows them walking carefully through red lights near Paddington Station.
The second picture shows them on Gloucester Place where they were really cutting lose and sort of half galloping randomly down the street. this one was a bit more taxing for the one rider/3 horses ratio

  1. Looks like reckless driving to me…
    I wonder if they have to pay a congestion charge surcharge due having to pongy emissions. They’ve jumped a red light too!

  2. These are horses from The Kings Troup Royal Horse Artillary based at St John’s Wood barracks. The troupers frequently take the horses out into the busy London traffic to train them for ceromonial duties. If you have ever seen them with cannons in tow (Royal Tournement, royal salutes, etc) you’ll know that each pair of horses has only one rider.
    Absolutely magnificent.
