boats

part of my morning walk to work from the bus stop in town involves walking past parked up cruise ships.  it was nice to see Queen Elizabeth yesterday morning making her first visit to auckland

here a couple of others i’ve seen over the last few weeks

there have been loads.  so here are a couple. 

i liked the smoke from this one. very old school.

now summer is here, auckland city has daily visitations of giant ships.  i think that’s quite exciting.

here’s the wellington interislander ferry viewed from a plane.  that bank of cloud was rolling out behind it along the sea in a weird creepy fog type way.  nice

a big boat parked up in the dock as we zoomed by on a bus.  note the two movie watchers on the opposite seats.  once via an MP4 player type thing and one on his Macbook.

This was a real missed opportunity shot.  A few moments before the rainbow was on the other side of the boat and it looked like the boat was sailing in to it.  

unfortunately i was driving, so i stopped the car and grabbed my compact camera which isn’t as easy to control and burnt out the highlights of the white boat. I also note i cropped off the second rainbow just to the right of the frame.
