alan and his measurements

our friend and regular commenter alan (he of the amazing insect knowledge) has been in hospital for a fortnight with inside badness. he’s making a good recovery and is in good spirits, although still in a lot of discomfort.
part of his treatment involved him measuring all his liquids in and out on a little (wee) chart. he even had a tiny spitoon which needed to be measured.
anyway, all our funkypancake best wishes go to alan – hopefully he’ll be out soon !

xmas lunch #2

this time we had rather fancy table decorations which looked like they were a pile of nuts stuck together with chewing gum

and we even had a visit by Mr X Mas, who is seen here running towards the emergency exit signs

despite all the obvious enviromental damage of bits of england blowing up, there’s been some great skys. i’m not sure if this sky-scape was related or not, but was still very dramatic.

ski slope outside the tate modern

there’s ice-skating rinks popping up all over london so it was only a matter of time before we got a ski slope too.
here’s one outside the tate modern. hoorah.

city gent

i’m sure i remember coming to london when i was young and seeing some city gents in their bowler hats, but since then i’ve only seen one chap wearing a bowler and he was a nutty chap standing on a street corner, shouting religious words to anyone who would listen, after a hard day in the office. but he did look like a genuine bowler wearer.
perhaps when i get to heaven i’ll meet him and tell him i remember him well.
however, yesterday, i spotted this chap with a bowler hat coming out of the Financial Times building. he even put his bowler on for a moment but then whipped it off as he ran for his cab.

red scarf made from shoe heels

here’s a sign from a german escalator. there’s a dog sign in there, but the most intriguing one is the bottom right. it looks like her red scarf is made from the same material as her shoe heel. crazy belgians.
