plenty more paddington station page numbered signs, including page number 01 (the railway byelaws of 2001 would make a great front page for any book)
and the one on the bottom left below is interesting. This is the second sign with a photo on it, but the photo is over the page number. What IS going on with these page numbers ?

flood
there are a few reasons why i get up at 4.45am to drive down one of this country’s busiest motorways so i can start work at 6am. the main one is because it allows me to leave the office at 4pm (meeting commitments permitting) and i can be home to have dinner with the family
last night when i got back we decided it was still light and warm enough to go for a quick geocache and look at a ford.
i noted this ‘flood’ sign in the middle of the ford.
by the way, another couple of reasons i get up so early are: that motorway isn’t busy, and (most relevantly) my clock gains about a minute every fortnight and i’ve been slowly getting up earlier for the last year without really realising it ! it also means my clock is always wrong.

just half an hour walk
i like this simple map of the south bank. i especially like the fact it shows the distance as ‘just half an hour walk’. i imagine for a lot of people that would not be ‘just’ a short walk.
i’m all for walking.
melty london
this wall appeared (and melted) in front of the tate modern over the weekend.
it looked pretty good (i think it had been there since saturday and i took these photos on monday morning)
the cool thing is the melted ice blocks started to look like fish …
