One morning we went to Inchcailloch Island

The girls loved it:

the boat dropped us off at a jetty and went off:

I then walked up to the top of the hill with jane’s parents:

the views were fabulous and would have been even better if the clouds got out the way:

  1. Being resident in north west Glasgow I was lucky to live quite near to Balloch and visited Loch Lomond many times with my parents. I still live within easy reach of the area and have made many enjoyable day trips with my own children.
I have never been on Inchcailloch Island but plan to go over with my family soon. I believe it is the ancient burial site of some of the MacFarlane Clan (My wife’s family name) and look forward to checking out these roots.
I enjoyed your notes and pictures and hope others are motivated to visit this very beautiful part of Scotland.

  2. you are right about the graveyard. it’s a lovely stroll through centre of the island to reach the old church yard and there’s a board explaining which grave is which.
we’ll certianly be returning to scotland in the future !
