The little girl in the picture is standing on a horizontal scale (presumably aligned North/South).What does it measure and how does she know where to stand? How do I make one for the shadow clock in my garden, which at the moment is just one stone to stand on?

to be honest i’m not too sure.
you probably get someone to stand there all day (or put a broom stick or something) and just look where the reflection points to every hour and mark it off ?
