the last part

this morning (saturday) was the last formal part of the conference. it was a different venue so the walk from the hotel was only 10 minutes rather than the usual 30 minutes.
then it was free time this afternoon before the gala dinner this evening. i’ve even bought a new belgian shirt for the occasion.

stuffed dog

walking through the city of ghent heading back to my hotel i saw this lady holding this dog. something wasn’t quite right. it was stuffed.
but nice it still got to go on regular walks.

outside cabinet

this massive piece of furniture is OUTSIDE my hotel next to the main road rather than inside. very strange. but nice to see when going out in the morning.

self portrait in a bendy mirror

i can’t walk by one of those fish-eye mirrors without taking a photo. actually, i can’t walk past most things without taking a photo.

the fatima cafe

i went to this cafe one night. i was full of bearded people with dreadlocks. the men were even worse (boom tish).
one of the customers had brought their pet rat along which was a nice touch. i was invited to play cards by some non-english speaking arts students but when they realised i didn’t know what they were on about (and vice versa) we didn’t bother.
the music they were playing was excellent – nick cave i think.
anyway, i went past it this morning on the way to the conference and spotted the dangling life-sized manequin. so here it is.
