this hotel being an old monastry has its own little chappel which is open late at night. apparently it was all decked out with candles on my first night here but i missed it. instead here are the candles.
the chapel itself is now used for corporate events and has a bar built next to the altar !
as promised, here he is. his dog is called trixie and goes with him everywhere.
here is a strange chap/lady in a window i saw last night. i didn’t go closer because i was slightly too scared.
more beer and chocolate and later a kriek which turned out to be a real boon. i got abuse from the bar man when i ordered it because he implied it was a girly alco-pop. in the end it reminded me of snake bite and black (black current, cider and lager) which i used to drink as a goth student.
verdict: very pleasant

but look behind the food tables and what do we see ? all the music and the authentic medieval fine wine and modern lager. we weren’t actually transported through time after all:
it’s those coat hangers again. this time with a shadow darker than the thing themselves.
Ghent has canals all over the place so there’s loads of lovely reflections everywhere. but here’s a nice shadow.
