the happiest dog ever ?

This is a great dog sign isn’t it ? possibly the jolliest i’ve ever seen.
and, to my great joy, the chap with his hound is at the conference again this year. i shall get an up-to-date picture before the week is out … (and here it is)

belgium cuisine

who could fail to love a country whose national dish is steak and chips accompanied by beer followed by luxury chocolate and ice-cream.
good to see they still use heinz ketchup.

a very strange hotel

i’m staying in an old monastry. i thought it’d be all churchy, but the bit i’m in is a mid-70s annex so not quite as nice. however, it is a massive room with a ceiling higher than the room is wide.
and it’s got its own kitchen. this is the first hotel i’ve stayed in where they give you a cooking hob, pans and washing up sink.
they also denied they had any Internet access, saying i needed to use the phone line. but then i had a wifi snoop and found this a free spot.
lucky us – that means fresh content for all !

eurostar

long distance trains are a bit of strange thing in the UK. our trains generally don’t go between countries like they on the continent. the worst that can happen in the UK is that you get inconvenienced a bit.
but the eurostar makes this sport a little more exciting. get the wrong train and you end up in paris rather than brussels. get to brussels and get on the wrong train and you can end up anywhere.
luckily i made it to Ghent safely.
