blue shopping basket on a metal trolley and a trolley lifting feat
i've set myself a regime of walking to the local tescos for my sandwich and morning pastries each morning just after it opens. i get there the same time as the trolley catchers who round up the wayward trollies after their night activities.
this daily routine suits me. here are some trolley headstands
eagle eyed vin spotted the interesting barrow man here and asked for more details, so here he is in a sequence of four pictures i took from up the Monument a few weeks back.
here he is with a 'customer' ?
and that's all i have. it looks like offal in the trolley. or perhaps it's poultry.
the problems of having no reverse
the problems of parallel parking
i went in to an Austrian supermarket which had a basement area. you could take your trolley up and down using the trolley escalator as seen here.
people, umbrellas and kids attached to the trolley aren't allowed up it though.
there is a trolley at the top of this picture but you can't see it because it's behind one of the signs. sorry about that.
next time i'll try and get a video clip.
i love trollies, especially when they are far from home. i hadn't realised there were just so many different types available.
here is a trolley menu for your parusal.
someone should invent trolley top-trumps. It could have categories such as cubic capacity, seating capacity, steerability, height and wheelchair attachability.
how many categories can this fit in ? it's two slippery sign bollards on a trolley in front of the Shell building
don't go in here. it's a trap
Brad sent me this photo ages ago and then i lost it, but now i found it. it's a great picture of what looks like a high speed trolley pile up in the Bronx !
this trolley was tied to some railings with a 'no bikes to be chained to these railings' sign.
the concierge of these luxuries housings came out and asked me why i'd taken this photo as i think he was a bit worried !
i explained i was taking pictures of trolleys for the website and it often appeared they were journeying on their own round town and generally having a good time.
"i hadn't thought of that", he said, "they are a bit like robots".
and so they are.
these trollies must be early prototypes without an reverse functionality. they've ended up trapped against a wall. poor thing.
here's a trolley trapped upsway down behind a gate. i suspect he failed to jump over it properly.
looks like he had a lucky escape. if he'd jumped any further he'd have fallen down the stairs:
it's freezing in the UK at the moment. here is a trolley trapped in a frozen lake.
trollies can be keen adversaries. but turn them ups-way-down and they become useless.
here are a number of incapacitated trollies in the back of a lorry.
neither of my daughters would pose with this trolley making it feel even sadder than it already was
two trollies. one was hiding. but i spotted him.
here is a council street junk collecting van. it contained items of furniture, white good (fridge, cooker), trollies, mattresses etc.
it was like the funkypancake blog doing a roadshow.
poor thing
trolley at the Needles, Isle of Wight.
jame bond had a licence to kill. i'd rather have a licence which allowed me to push trollies down chairs. it would allow me to over-ride any local rules.
i probably wouldn't need it in belgium as it apprears you can take your trolley down the stairs anyway.
a trolley. a fan. our new water thing. all exciting office things.
if i could set a camera effect on my eyes it would be the slow sync. i just love the swirlyness and 'left behind ness'. this photo just hints at this thanks to my steady hand.
it's like the object being photo'd is not content just being itself and wants to extend itself beyond its own boundaries.
and so it should.
there's a few things that annoy me up in my daily life as a pedestrian. people not stopping at zebra crossings is one. and people blocking the pavement by parking on it or unloading stuff all over it is another one.
this morning my journey between the supermarket and the office (about 30 seconds walk) was completely blocked by this chap and his massive collection of delivery trolleys.
this trolley is watching some very mysterious cameras which were put up across the pedestrian crossing.
big brother (and his trolley) is watching you.
note the four wheels on this upright trolley. i suspect this is so it can be used in either the horizontal or vertical orientation.
did you notice the hit counter this month ? We've had over 10,000 different visitors which is very exciting.
and a few days ago we had our 3,000th comment.
so that's all very exciting isn't !
and here is the 3,000th photo i've taken with my new camera which i got on the 13th August 2004. I took it a couple of days ago so that's about 75 shots a day.
it's a lady with a fancy coat pushing a hospital wheel chair containing her handbag down the street.
there's been a real run on trollies just recently which i for one have found simply thrilling. i hope you have too.
can you imagine my surprise when i came out of my office door and spotted all these trolley going by ? luckily my camera start up time is now quick enough to allow me to capture the moment before it was gone forever.
so here it is. lots of people and their little trollies walking by Pollock's Toy Museum
these three trollies have joined up for a trip to the park:
just look at that row of wheels:
this picture was esther's idea. she said "look at all the wheels". so we did.
