at last, somewhere to park your raleigh chopper
i think i've mentioned before that they often get dignitaries in to open buildings, but i've not heard of them coming along to close anything.
today the queen went to the BBC to open their new building. And as a result they closed the bike parking, so the queen does close things after all !
i like how they've over-dubbed the original sign on this too.
we went for a family outing to the Cotswold Wildlife Park yesterday and it was very good.
i knew it would be good when i saw this sign, which covers so many different categories and includes the word 'poop' ! Expect lots of pictures of animals over the next few days.
i used to think walking was a relaxing activity. but it's not. party i think because i move at speed. and most other people don't. and my speed is generally constant and other people's aren't.
bikes on pavements are a very annoying thing. almost as annoying as nearly being run over on zebra crossings i find very vexatious. is that a word ?
a whole selection of no bike signs
this reminds me of one of those 'ages of man' evolution posters.
you might have heard about the diana memorial garden ? it's been a bit of a classic - originally a nice idea but went all a bit wrong when people slipped in the water channel. oh well
it's actually looking very nice now
and see how many categories i can put it in: no dogs, no cycles, people, royalty and slippery floor
it's nice to see a chained bike occasionally. so here's one to make up for all the no bike signs
have you visited www.bikeoff.org ? i hadn't.
it's a meeting of categories. this time a bike sign and a coffee on some railings.
if you want to see a fantastic mix of random things, look at this
this sign is missing a few words. those missing words are crucial to its meaning.
esther and kezia and a no bike sign. they are looking through the railings at their sheep puppets which were hanging up to dry in the window !
i imagine if you took the tyres off a bike it would work quite well on ice ?
i've decided to formalise the bike signs and set up their own category. if i have time i'll go back through the archives and recategorise some old pictures.
here are a few signs i pass every morning to get us started. There's usually a way round most of these signs.
for example, in this case, you just need to hide your bike. if they can't find it, they won't remove it:
here is a no bikes sign with a long explanation (including the threat of having your bike towed away!):
and here is a very short sign:
we're not in to carrying weapons of personal destruction about in the UK. it's considered a bit 'off' to carry a real gun or mace for example.
however, are police advising cyclists to purchase electrified bike chains ?
if so the warning should be to the thieves not the bike owners.
