david (seen here) has a very interesting piece of paper in his top pocket. everyone should blatantly display algebra as they go about their business
i was confused by why there were so may houses numbered '7'. then i realised. did you ?
(by the way, are you having trouble commenting on the blog ? i know i am ! if you are, drop me an email and i'll spend some time trying to sort it if it's problem for a few people - blog@funkypancake.com
i might miss them sometimes, but eventually i catch them
regular reader vin sent me this great photo of our favourite minis. he writes:
Today I saw 333 chasing 260 through Brentford. Had to give chase
myself but couldn't get any closer than this - they are very nippy. I
felt like I was in the Italian Job. I found them parked later, but
this shot conveys something of the thrill of the chase.
matt, funkypancake's web-landlord, spotted number 133 and gave chase. he saw it in amersham which is about 30 miles away from london.
i think brother edd spotted a stash of them in a car park in guildford which means matt's don't gain the prize for the most remote (unless my geography is completely out which wouldn't surpise any of us!)
last seen on the move
i love taking pictures of the numbered minis. it's great how they unexpectedly appear round a corner and zoom along the street i'm walking down.
i have to grab for my camera from it's holster and shoot without thinking. it's great when i get a nice one with a blurred background and the car in focus like this.
it's my own special video game.
the sun shining through some scaffolding made the number 7 on the wall. it's kind of an inverse shadow thing i suppose.
pilar's friend took this photo with her camera phone but didn't catch the numbers.
yet again, a mini slightly too far away to get it's number. i think it's 281 but i could be wrong
this car was in a distance so i couldn't see its number. which was a shame.
being john malkovitch anyone ?
numbered birdboxed in a forest. how else will the bird postman know where to take its deliveries ?
(spotted by matt, the website landlord, in Osborn Street, London)
here is the number 286, but look at the serial number on the tickets. KA77 (which looks a bit like KATT) and puss which looks a bit like PUSS.
Both of these are words are catty words ?
just a coincidence ? i don't think so !
long exposure night shot of mini number 244:
same car different time of day (and part of town)
i collect numbers. so i was pleased that these numbers were identified as numbers otherwise i may have missed them.
this sign is a typical example of the verbosity of the modern sign writer. 108 mins 164 is -56.
but i suppose if they'd written that then cars would have thought it was the speed limit and started driving very fast backwards down the road.
and that could only have lead to disaster.
so, on second (and third) thoughts, i'm happy they've done what they've done here.
this one takes me back to my educational days, particularly my engineering maths courses. Functions were a tricky thing (as was the rest of my course for my pudding-brain).
if only i'd known these people could have designed me a perfect one i wouldn't have bothered.
tombola or raffle ?
here is mini number 333 as seen 2 weeks ago (i've kept the photo in storage). the day before i saw number 456 but didn't get my camera out in time as it whizzed on by.
then today i saw 230:
number 3
maxx sent me mini 263 which he saw on his recent trip to london. i feel this blog has many eyes and i like it.
i've been collected pictures of numbered minis. i saw this one whizz by me this morning and got a photo of it at the lights (i REALLY need a camera with a faster start up time!).
but how would i remember which number it had written on the side ? i decided to use my hands. it's 435 (i didn't have enough fingers on one hand to do a 6 so i used a piece of railing)
esther has used her calculator so much some of the numbers have dropped off. i spotted this number 3 button on the stairs
