i love fetes. and i love tombolas the best. when you enter you kind of want to win,but also don't want to as the history of the bottles is often questionable. we've suspected some professional tombola wine bottles have been circulating for years - once one they are donated to the next tombola and so on.
this is a fairly classic selection with all the usuals - ketchup, cola, cheap pop, strange wines etc.
this is the label on Tesco lemonade. the picture shows someone throwing a lemon violently in to an already full glass of lemonade, thus spilling it everywhere. this 'serving suggestion' probably makes sense to tesco as you end up wasting the drink and having to buy more than you otherwise would have.
we went on a family picnic yesterday and it was excellent. the location, the weather, family etc. the only thing which nearly went wrong was when jane realised she'd forgotten the teabags. "don't worry", said my mum, "i've got one in my handbag".
how british is that ? that was definately one of those proud-to-be-my-mothers'-son moments.
the hot drink machine in my office has a mysterious handwritten note on enquiring whether tomato soup is available 'off list' as a secret number.
i like the idea of finding hidden 'cheat' codes in the drinks machine that can dispense exciting drinks.
i always choose 83 mild for my mug of hot water. perhaps i should start trying a few other numbers and see what comes out.
canapes (can of peas)
as you'll know, spring, of, as they call it in America, 'spring', has now sprung and it's officially, er, spring.
that means all sorts of things start popping up. flowers mostly.
but there's a few other things. we all know that mushrooms are the mushrooms of the food world, but what are the mushrooms of the drink world you ask ?
tea bags of course.
here are a crop of round ones (and a key):
here's the key:
and here's another teabag, this time with a box of matches and a lighter:
as the famous song goes "there's nothing you can drink that can't drink" (or something).
this poor little can is thirsty but is too small to reach the top of the pub bench. i'm sure someone will take pity on him. he's got such a smiley mouth !
