we live quite near a national sporting institute place so we often bump in to national sporting icons (i've seen gold olympian valerie adams a few times)
yesterday there were a few more as a number of NZ olympians were there for a meet and greet (swimmers and a couple of cyclists i think)
they'd done the place up in a london-esque way which was quite amusing
but they'd made it slightly too authentic with ripped posters in the phone box
and dirty windows (all part of the cardboard cutout print thing)
and the underground sign was also printed deliberately dirty. great stuff
a few things struck me: they all seemed like really nice people who were keen for a chat
and there was no security or attempt to 'control' their appearance. they were just great kiwi guys and girls hanging out with the public (behind a big long white table!)
the national TV news turned up but even that was uneventful. no security. no bother.
sweet as !
