Bizarrely enough I think it's a U2 spyplane, maybe going to an airshow as it's not much of a secret any more!
Phil
thanks phil - that part o the Thames Path is quite near military airbase ...
There were quite lot of WWII planes about this w/e for some reason.
I saw a Lancaster escorted by 2 spits(?) go over us, in Berkshire, which is a long way from where I saw in the news that a lancaster had been flying over (I think) Lincoln or somewhere.
You would have seen the Battle of Britain memorial flight, which consists of a Lancaster, a Spitfire and a Hurricane. I think they get into formation as soon as they can and all land at the same airfield so that might explain why you saw them altogether such a long way from any airshows.
They were scheduled to make a fly past for the Dunsfold Park airshow which is in Surrey on the 27th, so that might explain why you saw them where you did.
As for the plane in the picture, it definately looks like a U2.
Great stuff. Hoping to see the BoB memorial flight again over the Goodwood Revival this weekend.
I have Windows XP at home, and since the family all use it we have our own log-in buttons.
I chose my button icon from the standard menu of options and it is one of them.
i thought that was a bit surreal until i realised Rascle meant he has a spy plane as an icon
